Jaton Edwards – Again

We first profiled Jaton Edwards and his extensive criminal record back in May of 2012. He was arrested again, with another firearm, at Charlie O’s. For those who aren’t familiar with it, that establishment is one of the black clubs that are the source of a lot of the gun violence which occurs in parking lots and on the roadways of our communities.

    Interesting…… from the P and C website:

“Despite his alleged comment to deputies that he’s a felon, sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady said his criminal record contains no felony convictions.”

i guess they neither have access to sc judicial department records nor do they read this blog.

Actually, Major Brady is correct. There is a list of very specific felonies for which a conviction bars a person from possessing a handgun. So far, Edwards hasn’t been convicted of one. That armed robbery charge would do it, but we expect the 9th Circuit Solicitor to plead that one down like she has with most of his other offenses.

Yes, it’s very difficult to be labeled a ‘felon’ when the solicitors and judges plead every charge down or dismiss them. It has nothing to do with whether they actually committed a felony. Ironically the perp even considers himself a felon.
